Matt Smith has been announced as patron of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT).
The Doctor Who actor trained with the organisation as a teenager and recently visited rehearsals to surprise a 140-strong NYT cast as they worked on their performances for the Olympic and Paralympic Team Welcome Ceremonies.
